Meet The Artist
Benito Gomez (b. 1993) is a self-taught artist whose work reflects resilience, resourcefulness, and a profound connection to his roots. Born into a farmworker family, he grew up understanding the value of hard work and perseverance. At 18, his life took a devastating turn when he was incarcerated and handed a harsh 114-year sentence. Despite the immense challenges of his circumstances, he turned to art as a lifeline, channeling his emotions and experiences into creative expression.
With limited resources, he innovatively creates art using whatever materials are available—juice packs, pens, coffee, and even acrylics on bed sheets as canvases. His pieces speak to themes of struggle, identity, and hope, offering a window into the human spirit's ability to transform adversity into beauty. Through his work, he has become a testament to the power of art as a means of survival and self-discovery.

Latest Artwork
With limited access to traditional supplies, Benito had to get creative. In 2024, he started using coffee—something always available—as his paint, and prison bed sheets as his canvas.

Art That Gives Back
Benito knows firsthand what it means to create with nothing. That’s why a percentage of every sale goes toward providing art supplies to incarcerated individuals, giving them the tools to express, heal, and transform their stories—just like he did.
